Follow these guidelines to protect yourself every time.
Meet in a public place
Police station parking lots, coffee shops, and shopping centers are ideal. Never meet at a private residence for a first transaction. ALWAYS make sure you see visible public cameras.
Test before you pay
Always power on the console, test the controller, or verify the game disc before handing over any money.
Bring a friend
Having someone with you adds an extra layer of safety and confidence during the exchange.
Never wire money or use gift cards
Legitimate sellers will never ask for wire transfers, Zelle, Venmo, or gift card payments before you have the item in hand.
Trust your instincts
If something feels off — the price is too good, the seller is pushy, or the story doesn't add up — walk away. There will be other deals.
